On March 7th, Johnny Hughes announced the immediate availability for download of the CentOS 5.8 Linux operating system. CentOS 5.8 is available as an installable DVD ISO image for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures and it is based on the upstream release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8.
Released by the Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.8, the CentOS 5.8 distribution contains lots of updated packages, bugfixes and new functionality. As usual with a new CentOS release, this one also includes packages from all Red Hat Enterprise Linux variants, including Client, Server, Clustering and Virtualization. The upstream software repositories have been combined into a single one for this release, helping end users to work easy with it.
